Customizing a MySpace background is incredibly easy. You can begin by selecting a background on MySpace according to your preference of a large image or a repeating background. A large image is a large file that takes several seconds to download. A repeating graphic, however, can be quickly downloaded to give a nice effect to the page.

The code for adding a single image to your MySpace background is easy. All you have to do is to add the code to the 'About me' entry in your MySpace profile and fill in the URL with the URL of the background image you chose.

A MySpace page usually has its background scroll with the rest of the page. To get neat visibility on the web page, it is important that the background moves with the rest of the text. You can, however, add some extra code in the Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) style to fix it so that it does not scroll at all; just insert the code in the 'About me' section of your profile.

If you are using a small repeating background image for your MySpace background, it might not be as noticeable, but with a large image such as a rocking sports car, it is advisable to leave the scrolling normal.

MySpace users also enjoy the flexibility of polishing their backgrounds to make them seamless by using Adobe Photoshop. Just open the document that you want to make into a seamless MySpace background in Photoshop. Find out the width and height of the document by going to Image > Image Size. Note this somewhere and divide each value in half. Now, offset your image (Filter > Other > Offset). Offset the values with half of the total width and total height. This will make the seams much more visible in your document by centering the edges of the background. With a healing brush tool, patch tool, or clone tool, blend the seams into the background. Once you are satisfied with the blending, offset it once more so that it returns to its original look. Make further corrections, in case, you require.
